Greetings from Scandinavia, PÅRT TWO
After 2 nights stay in Turku, we head off to the south west of Finland to another independent country, Åland. We took a morning ferry ride by Viking Line(pronounce as V KING) to a small town call Mariehamn. The town is situated near the habour and it is very warm, cosy and people there are very friendly. Whave to solve our homeless problem when we first reach there. We did not book any hostel there because we dunno the place quite well. We walk for almost 10mins to the tourist information counter and seek some help but there told us they dun do booking for accomodation. They told us we can check with the Viking Line office which is about 100 meter away from them, so we went there and try our luck again. We approached a friendly lady, Heriet. She told us everywhere is fully book. We were praying hard that miracle will happen. Then she said she will try again and finally got us a hotel call, Hotel Cikada (sound like american motel). We walk for another 300meters and reach the hotel. It is run by an OLD Old old couple but they are very very nice and most of all it is not that expensive. The room we had has a magnificent view, sea view. We were enchanted by the view and of course we are glad that we have a roof over our head for that night. We took a walk in the neighbourhood and houses there are just awesome. There are in multiple pastel color. It is like a dream home to everyone. The decoration in and out of the house are so scandinavian. We want to enjoy the moment because we knew when we are back in Singapore it will be just urban and fastforward lifestyle.
We bought roasted chicken and some chips and had our dinner in the habour. It was pretty cold but still we find warm in the town. One man approached us and he is from France. Ironically, he only speaks french and Ms M only speak english but both of them still very much into each other conversation. I look at them as if they are liken little children trying to understand each other language..... and body language as well. Amazingly, their conversation lasted for almost 20mins. What did I do???? I was eating the whole time.....
After a well rested night and a reality show of Tila Tequila, we are ready to head to our next destination, Stockholm, Sweden.....
We took a 2 hours Viking Line ferry plus 1 hour bus ride and reach to the central station in stockholm. We were impress by the architecture building making the city culture so rich. We took a bus ride which I have to use credit card to buy the tix and reach to STF Fridhemsplan Hostel. We were in 3 Level which is the same as Hotel Chikada. The room look clean but we have a shared toilet which is not too bad. We rested for awhile and took a walk in the city but as usual, the shops close at 1800. We went to had our dinner, oh btw, dinner are very expensive in scadinavia. A normal breakfast, lunch, dinner can cost about 15bucks. Prepare lots of money if you want to come scandi, if not just cook all the meals if yoiu are staying in the hostel.
